"In Christ all things are new"

16 Jan 2011
Summary of sermon by FH Stegen

1Cor 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
Do we believe what God says here? When God comes into your life is all made new, and has the old passed away?

"Sin spoils everything"

Summary of sermon by Rev Arno Stegen
Romans 6 v 23 is a very well known verse and yet people sometimes know one part of the verse very well and ignore the other part. Some do only think about the wages of sin is death but some often quote the gift of God is eternal life because they don’t want to hear about sin. Religious people are often the worst enemies of the Gospel because they have the form of godliness and know God but do not glorify Him.

"Total dependence upon the Lord"

Summary of sermon by Rev FH Stegen
Text: Matthew 4:1-9
We so easily think that when we're filled with the Holy Spirit then we will only go from victory to victory, and there will be no more temptation anymore.
However we find that when the Holy Spirit came upon our Lord that the Spirit then led Him into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Our Lord overcame the devil, and went through the temptations victoriously.

Jos 6:1 - 27

Did you ever notice how the devil and his friends tries to keep the truth from human beings. (Maybe it's because he knows the truth sets people free and he likes them to be in bondage.) The devil is building his high walls with bricks and mortar (things worth nothing). The biggest news of all the ages he also tried to cover up, and ever since it happened (Mat 27:63-66)

20 June 2010 - "The race"
Summary of sermon by Rev Erlo Stegen
1Cor 9:24-27
24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.
27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
Paul compares the Christian life with a race.
All of us who are Christians, we are united into one body through the Holy Spirit; we are one group, one team.

As Christians we don't represent SA or Germany or any other country but we represent heaven. We also don't strive for a temporal crown but an eternal, imperishable crown.

30 May 2010 - "Bearing good fruit all the time"

Sermon by Rev Erlo Stegen

(Before the service uncle Friedel and the team that went to Europe reported back. God worked mightily. People were hungry for the Gospel. They cried to be filled with the Holy Spirit. People virtually came whole day long with their needs, but God gave us strength that we did not grow tired. We also had one desire to be consumed by God, make the most of each opportunity.)
